Senior picture day is one of the most memorable milestones of high school. At Heritage Imagery, we make senior portraits simple, stress-free, and enjoyable — so parents and seniors know exactly what to expect before, during, and after their session.

If you're wondering how to prepare for senior pictures, what to wear, or how ordering works — this guide covers everything you need to know.

Preparing for Senior Picture Day

Scheduling your senior portrait session is easy with Heritage Imagery. Once your appointment is confirmed, it’s time to get ready:

Arrive Early

Seniors should plan to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled senior portrait appointment. This allows time for check-in and preparation before the photo session begins.

What to Wear for Senior Pictures

Girls:
Heritage Imagery provides the traditional black velvet drape for senior portraits. To make drape placement easy and comfortable, we recommend wearing a thin-strapped or strapless top underneath.

Boys:
Boys should bring a dark-colored jacket, white dress shirt, and a solid or muted tie. Select jacket sizes (XS–XXL) are available onsite if needed.

Following these simple wardrobe guidelines helps ensure your senior portraits look polished and professional for both your yearbook and personal keepsakes.

The Senior Portrait Session Experience

Our experienced photographers will guide each senior through the process with simple, natural posing to help them feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.

Each session is designed to capture one high-quality, formal senior portrait that will be submitted to the school. The process is quick, efficient, and focused on making every student look their best.

After Senior Picture Day: Online Ordering Made Easy

Unlike traditional photo sessions, there’s no need to pre-order packages before your senior portrait session.

After your session:

  • You’ll receive a private online gallery to view your images.

  • Parents can review the final portraits before making any purchase decisions.

  • All ordering, package selection, and payment is handled directly through our secure online system.

  • Pricing, available packages, and order deadlines are clearly displayed inside the gallery.

This flexible process allows families to only purchase what they love — after seeing the final images.
